Enlargement of the Rande-Vigo bridge
SOCITREL played a fundamental and highly significant role in the historic undertaking of expanding the so-called Ponte de Rande, located in the picturesque city of Vigo, in the north of Spanish territory. This notable intervention allowed a significant increase in road capacity between two equally charming communities, O Morrazo and Teis.
The magnitude of this monumental project has not gone unnoticed by the global engineering community. In a highly prestigious event, which took place in June 2019, the Rande Bridge received an honorable distinction by being recognized as one of the three best bridges in the world. This renowned award was granted by IABSE – International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, an organization based in Zurich and represented in more than one hundred countries around the globe.
For the experienced engineers and experts at IABSE, the Rande Bridge represents a true milestone in the field of structural engineering. This stands out with an innovative design that not only solved the functional challenge of increased traffic, but also optimized the strength and structural solidity of the bridge, in addition to substantially improving its dynamic performance.
